Online, web, or
internet are all words that describe a dating system where people have
close encounters of the virtual kind. They meet up online via the internet
or with the possibility of kindling a romantic spark.
Through MySpace, Facebook, Yahoo Personals, eHarmony, Match.com, and
True.com are some of the most used websites that allow individuals to
provide personal information, their likes, dislikes, and what they are
looking for in a mate. These sites then attempt to match people according
to those likes and dislikes. Others meet through chat rooms such as
MySpace Groups, Yahoo Groups, MSN Groups, and mIRC.
According to the Online Publishers Association, more the $500 million was
spend on paid advertising and dating services in the year of 2005. By my
estimates, there is going to be atleast $750 million spent in the year
2008.
